Exciting News… we, what2buy4kids, a small independent toy shop have won a fantastic award that gave us an almighty social media boost during the festive period. We were awarded Theo Paphitis’ Small Business Sunday award, after entering the competition every week for just under 12 months. Finally after many months of determination we were recognised by Theo as an outstanding small business and are one of the very few independent toy shops to proudly own this award. Theo Paphitis, from Dragons Den and owner of Theo Paphitis Retail Group which includes Ryman Stationery, recognised our hard work and during ‘Small Business Sunday’ retweeted what2buy4kids, our independent toy shop, to his 500,000 Twitter followers. Independent toy shops struggle in today’s climate to compete against the big, well known toyshops and therefore we really appreciate any extra support we can get from anyone, whether that’s our customers, other businesses or celebs.
It is great to have support from Theo because it’s been tough trying to raise our profile and Theo has recognised our hard work and helped spread the word about what we do to his following. what2buy4kids is one of the many independent toy shops in the UK and has been trading for 9 years, selling a great range of toys and gifts for children. Our independent toy shop specialises in finding fun and educational gifts for boys and girls and ones that you wont find on the high street. It was amazing for Theo to share what we do to his followers and for our independent toy shop to be listed on his website.
Theo is always “thrilled to welcome new #SBS members every week and highlight just how important it is to support our small businesses here in the UK. My vision is that everyone who has ever won an #SBS re-tweet from me becomes part of a friendly club; like-minded individuals who can share successes and learnings. The website will also give a valuable profile to the winners chosen and I wish what2buy4kids, an amazing independent toy shop every success.” After hearing this from him we were over the moon with the amount of support what2buy4kids has received, especially over Christmas and we’re extremely excited to see how SBS can help grow our independent toy shop in the future.
