Back To School Checklist

Back To School… It always seems so strange to talk about this, just as the kids are breaking up, but  every year I recommend buying back to school accessories early as it helps to spread the cost, leaving school uniform and shoes as late as possible as many kids have a growth spurt during the summer holidays and you don’t want to be left with uniform and shoes that are too small. So below I’ve listed the back to school essentials that you can buy now, making that back to school in September a breeze.

Items to Buy Now

Kids Lunch Boxes

You may be persuaded to buy a  cheap kid’s lunch box, but it will probably only last a few weeks and break easily  For a good quality, well insulated lunch bag I would suggest looking at the Floss & Rock, Bobbleart or Stephen Joseph collections. A little on the expensive side, but designed to last and well worth the money. But if you are on a budget check out the Sass & Belle range – again very good quality, but much cheaper.

Children’s Backpacks

I’d always recommend back packs for children rather than the shoulder messenger bag, as these are much easier to carry and much better for kids’ backs, shoulders and necks. Floss & Rock and Stephen Joseph collections are all fabulous – the fun designs and brightly colours really go down well with kids.

P.E. /Sports Kit bags

All children will need some sort of drawstring bag to store their P.E. kit or games kit, so don’t forget to add this to the list.

Kids Drinks Bottles.

It’s very important to keep kids hydrated at all times, so they will need a kid’s drinks bottle for the school day. Leak proof bottles are by far the best. To prevent spillages, choose ones with straws or sports caps, rather than screw lids for younger kids.

Pencil Cases

This seems to always be the item parents forget to buy. Many younger children probably won’t need one, but for older children and those at high school, it’s a must. For starters, add pens, pencils, colouring pencils, ruler, rubber, pencil sharpener, highlighters and calculator

Once you’ve bought everything on the above checklist, you can enjoy the long summer break with the kids. All that remains for you to do at a later stage are school uniforms, school shoes and P.E/sports kits.
